Lakeland Financial Corporation (LKFN) reported record third quarter net income of $28.9 million for the three months ended September 30, 2026, marking a 9% increase from the prior year period. The Warsaw, Indiana-based bank parent company attributed the performance to strong loan growth and net interest margin expansion, with diluted earnings per share rising 11% to a record $1.14.

For the nine months ended September 30, 2026, net income reached $83.8 million, a 14% increase compared to the same period in 2025. Total revenue for the third quarter was $73.0 million, up 6% year-over-year, while core deposits expanded by $204.3 million to $6.05 billion. Loans grew by $431.4 million, or 8%, to reach $5.68 billion at the end of the quarter.

David M. Findlay, Chairman and CEO, stated that the record net income reflects the efforts of the Lake City Bank team as it continues to grow market share in every market served. Lisa M. O'Neill, Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, highlighted the net interest margin expansion, which improved 8 basis points year-over-year to 3.58%. Funding costs fell by 24 basis points to 2.13%, outpacing a 16 basis point decline in earning asset yields.

The tangible common equity to tangible assets ratio declined to 10.11% at September 30, 2026, from 10.79% a year earlier. The company noted this decrease was primarily driven by unrealized losses on available-for-sale investment securities resulting from an 85 basis point rise in the 10-year Treasury yield during the third quarter. Unrealized losses on these securities increased to $213.9 million at quarter end.

Lakeland Financial continued its share repurchase program during the third quarter, buying back 41,550 shares at a weighted average price of $58.45. Under the current authorization through April 30, 2027, the company has repurchased a total of 787,166 shares for $45.4 million since April 1, 2025, leaving $14.6 million in remaining authorization. The board of directors approved a cash dividend of $0.52 per share for the third quarter.
