New York Jets safety Minkah Fitzpatrick delivered a helmet-led hit to Cleveland Browns rookie wide receiver KC Concepcion in the first quarter of their Sunday afternoon matchup. The play occurred at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, while the Browns trailed 7-0 and attempted to score on a pass from quarterback Deshaun Watson. Fitzpatrick, positioned in the secondary, made contact as Concepcion moved to catch the ball, resulting in a flag for hitting a defenseless receiver.
Concepcion was down on the ground for several moments before getting up and walking off the field under his own power. He was subsequently ruled out for the remainder of the game. The Browns managed to notch a field goal on the following drive.
Selected in the first round of the 2026 NFL Draft, Concepcion played collegiate football at N.C. State and Texas A&M before turning pro. He has emerged as a reliable target in the Browns' offense, entering this game with 17 catches for 144 yards this year. Fitzpatrick has established himself as a hard-hitting defensive back in his first season with the Jets, recording 16 tackles and an interception.
The Browns entered the contest with a 3-1 record and held first place in the AFC North. The Jets sought to end a three-game losing streak.
