Homeland Security Investigations agents searched Rep. Ilhan Omar's Washington, D.C., residence early Monday morning as part of a federal criminal fraud investigation. The probe focuses on the Minnesota Democrat's immigration paperwork, which was completed by her late father when she was a child. Two sources close to the HSI investigation confirmed that the raid was connected to this specific criminal matter. The search occurred amid growing scrutiny of Omar's financial disclosures and her personal life.

Tim Mynett, Omar's husband and a political consultant, was seen entering the raided home Tuesday afternoon. Fox News Digital captured footage of Mynett walking a yellow Labrador on a leash before entering the residence. His appearance at the scene came the same day U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro announced her office is investigating Omar's financial disclosures regarding the couple's reported worth. Pirro's announcement marks a new phase in the scrutiny following the Office of Congressional Conduct's decision in September to drop its misconduct investigation into the congresswoman.

The financial controversy stems from a significant drop in the reported assets of Omar and Mynett within a single filing period. A 2024 financial report estimated the couple possessed between $6 million and $30 million in assets. However, subsequent disclosures listed Mynett's equity interests in his winery and venture capital advisory firm at $0. In previous filings, his share in the winery was valued between $1 million and $5 million, and his share in the advisory firm was valued between $5 million and $25 million.

Omar's office previously told Fox News Digital that the earlier disclosure mistakenly reflected the businesses' total equity rather than Mynett's specific ownership interest. The office also stated that the original filing listed assets without accounting for liabilities. Mynett is a partner in both businesses and was previously a partner of a firm that worked on Omar's 2020 re-election campaign. The couple announced their marriage in March 2020, which is Omar's third marriage.

A Department of Justice spokesperson told Fox News Digital that a judicially authorized search warrant for the Monday raid was obtained as part of an ongoing federal investigation. While White House border czar Tom Homan had earlier announced a criminal investigation into Omar, leading to speculation about alleged immigration schemes related to her first marriage, a former federal prosecutor recently told Fox News Digital that the statute of limitations would make investigating that matter difficult. The current focus remains on the immigration documents filed during Omar's childhood.
