Accenture (ACN) has redefined its core growth narrative, shifting focus from digital core initiatives to large-scale client reinventions, ecosystem partners, and data and AI. Management identified these three areas as the primary drivers for the quarter during the fiscal Q4 2026 earnings call on October 1, 2026. This represents a distinct change from the previous year, when executives cited building the digital core as the biggest growth driver for the business.

The valuation gap between the company and the broader market underscores the significance of this strategic shift. Accenture stock is currently priced at 16.4 times earnings, a multiple well below the 21.5 average for the S&P 500. Investors examining this discount must account for the fact that management has fundamentally altered its priorities over the past year. The company now pitches a narrative centered on data and AI being embedded across all work it performs, rather than relying solely on digital infrastructure upgrades.

Ecosystem partners form the bulk of Accenture’s current revenue base. The company’s top 10 ecosystem partners accounted for more than 60% of its revenue in fiscal 2026. Revenue tied to this partner work grew 6%, a rate that management noted outpaced the broader firm’s performance. While the digital core remains part of the conversation, its role has evolved. During the fiscal Q3 2026 call, management observed that clients with advanced digital cores are moving toward larger AI programs, positioning this newer focus as the next stage of earlier work rather than a total replacement.

Newer AI initiatives are expanding at a significantly faster pace than the established business. Revenue generated alongside eight emerging AI and data partners more than doubled from fiscal 2025, while bookings with these partners more than tripled. These figures indicate that the initiatives highlighted by management are substantial components of the firm’s activity, not peripheral projects. However, investors must still determine how much of this growth stems from Accenture’s own operations versus external collaborations.

The source of overall growth remains a point of distinction for holders. Accenture posted revenue growth of 5% in local currency during fiscal 2026, but management estimated organic growth at only about 3%. Acquired companies supplied the remaining balance of that growth. This reliance on acquisitions means the company’s expansion profile differs from firms that secure all growth directly from clients. Management plans to continue purchasing companies through fiscal 2027, which will likely maintain this dynamic.

The next test for this strategy arrives with the fiscal Q1 2027 results. Management guided to revenue growth of 2% to 6% in local currency for the upcoming period. The organic growth figure reported on that call will reveal exactly how much revenue stemmed from Accenture’s own business versus the companies it bought, providing a clear metric for assessing the quality of its expansion.
